I’m sharing my go-to chocolate cake recipe and a simple, yet flavorful, cinnamon browned butter frosting.
If you’ve never made brown butter, I assure you all it takes is some good butter, a heavy-bottomed pot, and some patience. You’ll be intoxicated by the smell of the process, and I can assure you you’ll be looking into other recipes that use brown butter immediately following.
The nuttiness of the browned butter combined with the warmth of cinnamon (Spice Islands of course) and nutmeg atop a rich chocolate cake is a special treat, and it’s a beautiful addition to your holiday baking list.
Plus, who doesn’t love the ease of a sheet cake? (Though I do have to stop myself from swirling the frosting around for far too long….
